Simon Goldhill is Professor of Greek at Cambridge University and Director of the Cambridge Victorian Studies Group. He is best known as a scholar of Greek tragedy where he has published widely over the last thirty years, including Reading Greek Tragedy, and Sophocles and the Language of Tragedy. He has also published on Victorian studies, and his book Victorian Culture and Classical Antiquity won the Robert Lowry Patten award from the Society of English Literature for the best book on Victorian Studies in 2010-11. He currently is the PI and director of a project on ‘The Bible and Antiquity in 19th-century Culture’ at CRASSH.
