Sarah Beckwith is the Katherine Everitt Gilbert Professor of English and Theatre Studies at Duke University. She works on medieval and early modern drama and religion. Wittgenstein “converted” her slowly but surely around 1996 and she remains deeply interested in ordinary language philosophy as practiced by J.L.Austin, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Stanley Cavell.
