Alessandra Ignesti is a PhD student in Musicology at McGill University. Her research concerns Medieval and early Renaissance sacred polyphony. Before coming to McGill, she studied Philosophy in Venice and Padua, where she wrote a dissertation on the relationship between chant and rhetoric in St. Augustine’s philosophy. She combines her current research with a philosophical interest in surveying changes – particularly in the concept of art – that resulted from the fragmentation of the onto-theological framework of the Medieval Christendom.
