Alexander Morgan is a PhD student in Music Theory at McGill University. His diverse research is unified by a focus on counterpoint as an organizing force both in music and in the mind. His paper “Untangling Spletna” on the manifestation of Leoš Janáček’s idiosyncratic theories about music in his piano works was published in Harmonia in 2013. Alexander has presented on contrapuntal issues concerning Tinctoris, Victoria, and Janáček at Med-Ren (2013), the University of Cincinnati (2013), and the University of North Texas (2013) respectfully with upcoming presentations on Haydn and Tinctoris at EuroMAC in Leuven Belgium, London England, and at the Society for Music Theory in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
