Anna Reynolds completed her BA (English) and M.Phil (Medieval and Renaissance Literature) at the University of Cambridge before beginning her AHRC funded PhD in English at the University of York in October 2013. Her thesis explores rhetorical tropes of waste paper and historical paper practices in early modern England, seeking to reveal the interconnectedness of touching, reading and thinking in a paper-literate world. Attending to the full life-cycle of the early modern book, her research asks how users conceptualized a surface that could move in and out of bindings, transforming from rags, to reading material, to waste.
