Catherine Bahn, born in Manhattan, is a basso continuo specialist. From 2001-2014, she lived in The Netherlands and performed with ensembles: Musica Temprana, La Violetta, Sopra il Basso, La Risonanza, Capella Cracoviensis, Opera2day, La Capilla Real Madrid, Akadêmia and Drottningholm Theater Orchestra. She received her master’s degree in cello performance from Indiana University Bloomington and obtained her second master’s degree in viola da gamba performance at The Royal Conservatory of the Hague. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Early Music improvisation at McGill University. Her research focuses on Diego Ortiz and how sixteenth century instrumentalists incorporated improvised vocal counterpoint into their repertoire.
