Julia Decker is a PhD student in the Department of English and Creative Writing at Lancaster University. She is writing a collection of verse tales that document the joys and misadventures of the Pantaleones – a Venetian family modeled on the exaggerated characters of the commedia dell’arte tradition. Her broader research explores how comic adaptation and reinvention within and across genres can create new ways of thinking about identity formation.
