Laurel Billings

Laurel Billings is a PhD student in English and Women’s Studies at the University of Michigan. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from New York University and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alabama. Her research interests include gender, sexuality, empire, and environment in Early Modern English literature. She is especially interested in issues of bodily and religious conversion that arose in the contexts of travel, “discovery,” and settlement during this period.
