Mary Towers is a doctoral candidate in English Literature at McGill University. Interested in questions of identity, temporal orientation and the dynamics of historico-cultural memory, her dissertation examines a tension between imagined national pasts and projected futures. More specifically, her research focuses on tropes of nostalgia in the works of twentieth-century American authors, and interrogates how expressions of nostalgia evolve in the cinematic adaptations of selected literary productions.
