Adam Salmond studied at Carleton University’s College of the Humanities and the University of Edinburgh before coming to McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in 2013. His master’s thesis, titled “Improvisation and Polyphony in Colonial Mexico,” explores the practice of improvisation and the role of music in shaping European-Indigenous relations in the New World. Outside of academia, Adam has performed as a singer in Ottawa, Montreal, and Edinburgh.
