George Vahamikos is a PhD candidate in English at Duke University, where his research focuses on Anglo-Spanish cultural and political relations from the fifteenth through seventeenth centuries. His dissertation, “Sovereign Alliances: The Drama of Anglo-Spanish Relations, 1501-1623,” challenges the historical verities of Anglo-Spanish enmity by examining what becomes visible about their relationship only over the longue durée.
