Neil Vallelly is a Commonwealth Scholar (2012-2015) and currently a PhD student at the University of Otago, New Zealand (Prof. Evelyn Tribble) in conjunction with Shakespeare’s Globe, London (Dr. Farah Karim-Cooper). He completed his BA and MA degrees at Queen’s University Belfast. His doctoral research explores how light was experienced in the 16th and 17th centuries and to what extent these experiences impacted upon theatre in the period. His research also involves extended research stays at Shakespeare’s Globe including work on the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Neil is the postgraduate representative for the Australia and New Zealand Shakespeare Association.
