Matteo Soranzo is a Professor of Italian in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at McGill University. He holds a Laurea in Lettere from the Università degli Studi di Padova and a PhD in Italian from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His research focuses on the interplay of poetry and identity formation in early modern Italy, especially at the Neapolitan court of Ferrante of Aragon. He is the author of Poetry and Identity in Quattrocento Naples (Ashgate, 2014) and a number of articles on Battista Mantovano, Giovanni Pontano and Jacopo Sannazaro.
