New Readings

Welcome to new members of Mapping Horizons!
Please contact me by email (bronwen.wilson@uea.ac.uk) so that I can add you to the dropbox folder.
In the folder you will find a bibliography and readings that will be updated and supplemented during our work.
Together, we are creating three working bibliographies: Theoretical readings, Members work-in-progress, Historical studies.
From these, each member will each choose a minimum of three readings for annotations/responses/notes.
Friday, December 21, all participants to have sent me details for the bibliographies.
I will circulate an updated bibliography the following day.

For January 15: from that list, please send me brief annotations/responses for readings (minimum of 3, c. 500 words each).  Consider how the readings contribute to:

  1. Understanding oscillations, passages, exchanges between the line and the grid, between the pre discursive and the discursive,  between practice and theory.
  2. Is conversion a potentially useful theoretical term (particularly untethered from, and/or perhaps in relation to religious conversion?
  3. What new questions arise from the reading?
While doing the readings, please consider our terms

What are the historical, instrumental, epistemological, and metaphorical meanings of:
1) Line, horizon, threshold, grid; 2) Body, space, extension; 3) Publication, circulation, navigation?
Please send me one artifact, picture, map etc. for one of the terms.

For January 30: BW will collate and circulate our responses to create

1) a collaborative annotated bibliography

2) a list of questions and reflections

3) the list of terms with points for each, and accompanying artefacts, poems, etc.

February – VT to coordinate a virtual discussion and plans for second term.

24 February – meeting in Montreal in which Angela Vanhaelen will relay our work to other groups.
